Kuilman Mundell and Arlow is a small niche-based firm specialising in all aspects of property law as well as ante-nuptial contracts and administration of estates and commercial matters.

The firm was founded by Peter Kuilman on April Fool's Day in 1988. Fortunately, notwithstanding the inauspicious date, the firm was taken seriously and continued to grow and in 1991 Peter was joined by his university colleague, Patrick Mundell and the firm changed its name to Kuilman Mundell.

In 1997, Peter left to pursue commercial interests overseas but remained a consultant to the firm.

Patrick continued to practise as a sole practitioner until 2005 when Bernadette Arlow, who had made her way up through ranks of the firm, was appointed as a partner and the firm assumed its current name of Kuilman Mundell and Arlow.

Patrick was admitted as an attorney in 1983 and spent some time repaying his bursary obligations to the City of Johannesburg where he was exposed to a wide range of town planning and local government matters which now form an important part of his background as regards town planning and property matters.

Bernadette Arlow started with the firm as junior secretary, studied part time and eventually qualified as an attorney, notary and conveyancer and now heads up the Conveyancing department of the firm.

The firm's philosophy is to provide a personal service to its clients and with this in mind, in order to meet extraneous needs of clients not covered by the areas of speciality of the partners, the firm practises in association with Matthew Kerr-Phillips Attorney who specialises in litigation.
